D’Youville Employee Awards Program Gains National Attention

An appreciative family has made possible a unique employee recognition program at D’Youville. The donors, who wish to remain anonymous, made a large gift that will fund $1,000 cash awards annually for five employees who work in our Alzheimer’s Special Care Unit for many years.

Catholic Health World, in its December 15th edition, included D’Youville as one of three organizations from across the U.S. at which grateful family members have expressed their appreciation for the care provided to their loved ones in various ways. The CHW article, titled “Families spread holiday cheer in gratitude for loving care for aged,” captured the generous spirit of these thoughtful families very nicely.

At D’Youville, to be eligible for an award, an individual must have worked at D’Youville for at least one year, have demonstrated excellence in performing his or her job responsibilities and commitment to D’Youville’s mission of compassionate care, and their work must have enhanced the lives of residents of the Special Care Unit.

Fellow employees or other individuals nominated 14 individuals for the 2018 first round of these annual awards, which were announced in mid-October. All nurses, CNAs, Housekeepers, Dining Services Activities staff, and other members of the D’Youville staff who work full-time or part-time in the Alzheimer’s and other memory loss Special Care Unit are eligible to receive an award. Nominations were reviewed by a committee of supervisors representing all of the eligible workers’ units and well as the administration of the skilled nursing facility.
