Adult Day Health
For adults who need care and support on a part-time basis, D’Youville offers a dynamic program that runs Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Adult Day Health clients enjoy a light breakfast, a delicious lunch, and a healthy mid-afternoon snack during their visit, and are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities, including crafts, live entertainment, group exercise, bingo, and much more. This program can be a valuable service for many adults who might not otherwise get the social input they need, as well as a welcome respite for the family members who care for them.
All aspects of the Adult Day Health program are designed to foster mental, physical, and emotional wellness. Engaging activities are planned by a dedicated coordinator and are often developed in response to input from clients. Occasional excursions on the D’Youville Bus help maintain a connection to the greater community. Medication can be administered and treatments provided in accordance with the client’s own physician’s instructions, and most nutritional needs can be accommodated. Clients and their family members may also arrange for physical, occupational and speech therapies to occur during their visit. Pastoral service is available, and clients may partake in daily Communion as well as Mass services in the D’Youville Chapel.
We strive to create a rich and vibrant community space at D’Youville; as a result, our Adult Day Health clients look forward to their visits. And because our client-to-staff ratio is so small (just six to one), families of clients receive the peace of mind that comes from knowing that their loved one is receiving personalized and kind attention to their needs.
